9 Things you go through while prepping for D-Day that BuzzFeed/ScoopWhoop won’t tell you!

9 Things you go through while prepping for D-Day that BuzzFeed/ScoopWhoop won’t tell you!

1.       Go for Logo!
So you need to have a team logo ready that would help you brand your team. After many iterations, Tejus (remember, the Pun guy?) came up with this. And it looks uber cool. The dark orange carpet looks like it is rejoicing its existence with the vibrant violet serving as a night-sky-at-the-desert backdrop.

2.       Register, Rave, Repeat.
Obviously the foremost requirement is that you need to register for the OzCHI challenge. And it is while doing the registration that we suddenly become aware of the hundreds of other teams that would be registering for this challenge. Hundreds of teams.  Across the world.  Solving the same problem as you. In the same24 hours. Scary. But exciting right?

3.       Lab Booking
If you aren’t working from home, your team needs a common place to take the challenge from. In our case it’s our college lab. While there are a couple of other teams as well, more than 3 labs have been already booked for us. A welcome change from last year, where we had to run around taking permissions for the same.

4.       What ae you doing this Weekend?
So when our friends ask us what our “weekend plans” are we tell them about this 24 Hour challenge. The best part is explaining what all this is about. And the reactions we have got are priceless. From someone aptly labeling as a hackathon to someone who has already begun to see us in Australia (talk about ambitions!) to something as ludicrous as “Are you sure this has nothing to do with Adventure Sports?”, letting people know about such challenges only makes it more fun.

5.       Fast Food
The most paramount question of them all – what and when are we going to eat. Preparations are definitely under way with respect to this! From ordering pizza to munching on home-made Khaakra-Chiwada, the menu is rather elaborate!

6.       ZZZZZZZZZ
Who doesn’t love to have a night-out? But this one is going to be more of a sleepover at college! We are going to be sacrificing our beauty sleep, but staying up is not going to be an issue. We are engineers who are famous for ‘pulling off a night’ by cramming for the ext day’s exam or binge-watching TV Series. We are used to it. However, the high of a live competition is on a different level altogether and it will keep us wide awake long after the challenge is over!

7.       Rat Race
Our teammate Samir (yes, the Voice Artiste) quips “Mere papa ne sikhaya hai, ki anjaane raaston se guzarna nahi chahiye” (My father has taught me to not tread on unknown roads). We haven’t yet concerned ourselves with who else is participating and in what team. We Anyway, the more competition there is the more fun it is gonna be!

8.       Blog it
It’s me again at the keyboard, typing away! Writing blogs about what we are upto is essential. It’s the team’s window to the world.

9.       Go to Point 1
On a lighter note, you can always look u for Media Moguls who come up with the latest scoops with titles like “9 Points to remember….”

You don’t need that, you can check out his blog post and even if you don’t , you’ll be redirected to this page.
